The Company

Stanford Healthcare, a world-renowned academic medical center, provides both general acute care and specialized services. The organization is committed to delivering high-quality patient care, conducting cutting-edge research, and training the next generation of medical professionals.

The Challenge

Stanford Healthcare’s recruiting team was overwhelmed with managing day-to-day recruitment processes, leaving little time for effective candidate sourcing. This resulted in a growing number of open roles with no qualified candidates. Additionally, they discovered approximately 34,000 applicants in their Applicant Tracking System who had never been engaged by the talent acquisition team. The reliance on their stretched internal team led to increased costs from outside agencies and traveling nurses.

The IQTalent Solution

IQTalent proposed a comprehensive approach by:

  1. Establishing A Centralized Sourcing Hub: Created a dedicated team to streamline and standardize sourcing efforts across Stanford Healthcare’s various departments and roles.
  2. Pivoting Sourcing Strategies: Quickly shifted from passive sourcing to a candidate re-engagement strategy upon discovering a large pool of unengaged applicants.
  3. Implementing High-Volume Engagement: Set and executed an initial goal of engaging 60 applicants per day to tap into the existing talent pool.
  4. Expanding Service Offerings: Progressively took on additional responsibilities including talent acquisition marketing, rewriting C-suite bios and job descriptions, and integrating into the onboarding process.
  5. Integrating Seamlessly with Client: Embedded a team of 11 IQTalent professionals, including an Account Manager, Engagement Lead, and 9 sourcers, fully into Stanford Healthcare’s Talent Acquisition ecosystem.

Results

The centralized sourcing and re-engagement approach has shown significant success:

  • First offer extended within 33 days of engagement start.
  • 24 hires made within the first few months of the engagement.
  • Creation of a strong employer brand and candidate benches for hard-to-fill roles.
  • Progress towards Stanford Healthcare’s goal of zero openings for specific roles.
  • Reduction in reliance on outside agencies and traveling nurses, leading to cost savings.
  • Improved efficiency in the hiring process, with continued support for current openings and other talent acquisition tasks.

This initiative has shown significant success since February 2023, providing ongoing and expanding support to Stanford Healthcare with promising long-term potential.
